Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas

I love this song. There's something about the smooth, tender melody. I especially love this version by Frank Sinatra. Peaceful...simple...not a lot of extra fluff in the background...just a beautiful, heart-felt greeting.

From my home to yours...I hope you have yourself a merry little Christmas!

I'm Dreaming of A White Christmas...Just Like The Ones I Used to Know

This year I get to have a White Christmas!  I haven't had a white Christmas since 2004!  Here are a few pics from Virginia!

Christmastime Is Here

I love Christmas! Decorations...music...family...giving...traveling...shopping...I love everything about it! Here are a few photos of some of my favorite decorations.

This ornament came from my Grandpa's collection.

I love A Charlie Brown Christmas. Here's Linus telling the Christmas story.

I made this ornament as a kid!

You have to have a little team spirit on the tree!

Winter Snow

Growing up in the north, I developed a love for winter.  I can remember building snow forts in the dark, building snowmen with mom, sledding, and enjoying the winter beauty of a fresh snowfall.

Winter here in the south is a bit different.  It rarely snows and when it does it disappears as fast as it came.  The closest thing to snow this December has been the icicles that formed on the cliff-side in front of my apartment building.

They were beautiful, but soon disappeared with warmer weather.

While I haven’t seen my winter snow yet, I do have a song to share about 2 of my favorite things…winter snow & the birth of Jesus.  It was written and performed by Audrey Assad (look for her album next year) and featured on Chris Tomlin’s Christmas record, Glory In The Highest.

Christmas Letters & Blogging

It’s that time of year again where I find my wit and craft a synopsis of the year in my annual Christmas letter.

Vacations. Accomplishments. Life changes.

There’s always so much to say, but how do you get everything into 2 or 3 pages?  Christmas letters have become my annual journal of sorts. A document of the year’s major happenings in my life.

These letters & reading other family/life blogs have inspired me to give blogging a shot. I’m not sure how long or how often I’ll be able to keep it up, but I’m hoping to post twice a week. Here’s to good intentions!

Lost

Have you ever lost something of value?

Maybe to was worth a lot of money.

Maybe it was sentimental.

This week I lost a ring...my birthstone ring.

I'm not much for jewelry, but this was the first real piece of jewelry my parents gave me.

I have been looking for it everywhere.  It was on my finger in the morning and I noticed it was missing when I got home for lunch.  It fell off and I didn't even notice.  I keep watching the ground in hopes that the suns rays will catch a glimmer and my ring will magically appear.

We’re all searching for something…love…friendship…meaning…____________ (fill in the blank).

God hopes that the glimmer of His Son's light through the darkness will catch our eye and lead us to Him.  For as hard as I search for a lost ring, or we search for something missing in our lives, God searches for us.  He won’t leave any of us behind.  I’m grateful for that, because even though I live “inside the lines” those lines can often lead me astray.

Matthew 18:12-14
12"What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? 13And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. 14In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost.
